Opening in Spring 2010 the refurbished learning suite at the Lady Lever Art Gallery will be a hub of creative activity on Wirral. Although our current education room has provided a space for lectures and workshops for several years it is now proving too small. The needs of our audiences have now expanded and we want to grow with them.

Central to the new learning suite's ethos will be flexibility and accessibility both in how it is used and who it attracts. It will welcome a diverse audience with varied learning styles and abilities that come to be inspired by the gallery's collections.

We hope that the new learning suite will offer something for everyone. Here's a sample of what each space will provide:

  • Explore - a starting point for all of our visitors. Learn about how William Lever created Sunlight Soap and amassed his amazing collection of art.
  • Imagine - a soft, welcoming space especially for children that will encourage imagination, experimentation, creative play and learning.
  • Create - a space to make a mess! Using collection objects as inspiration visitors will be able to create works, attend seminars and lectures, watch films created by students, and display community artwork.
  • Sustain - a school lunchroom facility will be provided for booked groups, and act as a public picnic area at weekends and during school holidays.

We would welcome your suggestions for learning activities for the new suite. Email us with your ideas or for more information please contact the Lady Lever Art Gallery on 0151 478 4136.
