Supporting us
American Friends of National Museums Liverpool, Inc. (AFNML) was established in 2006.
It is a non-profit organization that seeks to raise awareness and financial support for museums, particularly National Museums Liverpool. AFNML seeks to raise funds in support of two venues of international significance; the International Slavery Museum and the Museum of Liverpool.
Donations will help provide key funding towards the continuation and development of these venues.

If you would like to apply for funding, please download and complete our grant request form below.
Grants are considered at our Annual General Meeting held at the end of the calendar year. Please submit your application by 1 October 2009. Recently AFNML granted funds to the International Slavery Museum, helping to support the international teachers’ institute, ‘Teaching the transatlantic slave trade - history, issues and future hopes’, planned for August 2009 in Accra, Ghana. This innovative project will bring together teachers from New Haven, Connecticut; Merseyside, England and Ghana for a two week conference. National Museums Liverpool, with generous support from AFNML, will be sponsoring 10 teachers from the Merseyside area to attend.
Partners in the project include the Gilder Lehrman Centre for the Study of Slavery, Resistance and Abolition, the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, University of Liverpool and Hope University. The funds granted will also contribute to the costs of a touring exhibition of items from the International Slavery Museum that will be coming to America.
We would like to acknowledge the generous support of our Patrons:
