Into the Future

Completed in 2005, Into the Future was National Museums Liverpool's first major capital project for the 21st century, representing one of the largest cultural investments in the city for many years.

The project has delivered state of the art facilities across four of National Museums Liverpool's venues, including new galleries and interactive facilities, improved access for all visitors as well as better display and storage conditions for the objects in the collections. These important developments project will ensure that National Museums Liverpool continues to deliver outstanding exhibitions and events for generations to come.

National Museums Liverpool Into the Future has delivered:

• £40 million investment in three Grade II* listed buildings
• 30,000 objects and works of art brought out of storage
• 16,000 sqm of refurbished historic buildings
• improved facilities for disabled users
• 8,000 sqm of galleries restored to public use
• greater opportunities for schools, colleges, special interest and community groups to get involved
• 500 jobs created during construction
• 50 permanent jobs following completion
