Requesting images for private use

This page explains how to order a photograph or image for private use from National Museums Liverpool. In the navigation panel you will see links to an order/declaration form and a prices page listing current prices for the supply of photographs/images and a list of fees for reproducing the image. If you have any queries, please contact Photography Administration. As parts of our collections are still covered by UK copyright law, it may not be possible to supply certain images where the copyright it not owned by National Museums Liverpool, but we will inform you of this on receipt of your order.

 

Completing the forms

Please provide as much information as possible on the Photographic Order Form to help us process your order. Please include the following:

• Full contact details
• Photographic image reference number (if known)
• A brief description of what the image is, for example, 'Painting, Henry VIII by Holbein', plus the accession number of the object (if known)
• The format and size of the image required, for example, digital, inkjet print, photo print, colour or black and white.
• If a digital image is required, please tell us whether you require a tiff or jpeg and preferred file size/dpi (digital files may be emailed, but this will require small file sizes and jpeg format).
• Print size required (see Price list on print sizes available). When stating a print size, please take into account the proportions of the subject. In some cases, the shape of the image will not match the print size, in which case the image will be sized to the largest print dimension.
• Quantity required
• Cost (note that there is an extra fee for reproduction of images supplied by NML) and total cost of order.

Please note that all order forms must be accompanied by a signed Declaration Form. We cannot accept your order without it and failure to return the form may cause delays or may prevent us from supplying you with your order. We cannot accept a scanned or photocopied signature.

Payment options

Please pay in advance in British Pounds Sterling (£), making cheques payable to 'National Museums Liverpool'. We can provide an invoice for orders, but only at company request.
Please ask for details if you wish to pay by card as this is possible through National Museums Liverpool venues.

If you are exempt from UK tax on goods please provide confirmation or EU tax code.

Placing your order

To place an order, please complete and return the forms to the Photography Administrator, with your payment/invoice details. On receipt of your order, we will provide confirmation and an enquiry reference number. Please use this number if you contact us about your order.
