Professional development and knowledge sharing

National Museums Liverpool is committed to the sharing of knowledge and expertise.

The North West Federation of Museums in partnership with MLA is offering grants to museum professionals who may wish to attend any of our training programmes. Further information and criteria for North West Federation grants is available online.

If you have specific enquiries for any of the National Museums Liverpool departments or venues and cannot find the right person to approach, please contact the Head of Museum Partnerships, Dr Chrissy Partheni on 0151- 478 4257 for an informal chat or by email with a brief description of what you are looking for.

Please note that although we strive to be co-operative and helpful our response often depends on our internal commitments and resources.

National Museums Liverpool is a member of the Asia-Europe Museum Network of sixty museums across Europe and Asia, aiming to facilitate the sharing of the joint Eurasian cultural heritage and to develop collections managment and interpretation knowledge and skills.

In November 2006 members of our Learning team visited the Hoi Chin Minh Museum in Hanoi, Vietnam, to understand learning provision at the museum. They also acquired relevant material from the area for the Weston Discovery Centre at World Museum.

Members of Hoi Chi Minh Museum visited our museums in May 2007 and took part in the learning programmes and activities. They also carried out research on Hoi Chin Minh and Vietnam at other museums and archives in the North West. In the future our learning teams will assist their colleagues in Vietnam in developing hands on resources for their audiences.
