Behind the Scenes of the 21st Century museum – free online course
Part of the highly successful FutureLearn portfolio of MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses), the University of Leicester and National Museums Liverpool are offering a free online course looking at the role museums play in the 21st century.
The course explores how museums engage new audiences, how we emotionally respond to museum objects and spaces and how museums can play a role in the pursuit of social justice, health and well being, and human rights. The course is ideal for people thinking about studying Museum Studies, people in the museum sector looking to undertake professional development, museum volunteers and anyone who is simply interested in museums and what they do.
- Comment from a learner: “I now see museums with new eyes. I thought this course would be about how you display exhibits, how you preserve objects in the 21st century, how you incorporate technology. It turned out to be so much more. Thank you so much.”
