Carol Rogers joined National Museums Liverpool (NML) in 2003 as the Head of Learning. She directs the Learning Division, in the strategic planning and delivery of formal, informal and outreach learning programmes based on and relating to the vast collection on display across NML's eight venues.

The Learning Division's mission is to engage a wide variety of individuals, networks and organisations in learning experiences which enable children, young people and adults to gain confidence, think creatively, access new skills and enjoy a positive and rewarding museum experience

More recently (June 2005) Carol has extended her role at NML to include responsibility for Visitor Services. Her new position of Executive Director for Visitor Management oversees the delivery of front of house services across the organisation.

Carol's profile is well known locally and she maintains an extensive communication network of lifelong learning providers and creative industry networks across Merseyside. Regionally, she has strong links with public and voluntary sector learning initiatives and regularly communicates with the regional decision-makers; Arts Council England NW, Government Office North West, NW Museums Libraries and Archives Council, the Liverpool Partnership Group, Merseyside Creative Partnerships, Merseyside Education Authorities, Liverpool City Council, Liverpool Early Years Partnership, The Liverpool Culture Company, and an extensive network of primary and secondary schools.

Nationally, Carol contributes in an advisory capacity to the National Museums Directors Group, the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and the national Museums, Libraries and Archives Council.

Experience

Prior to joining NML, Carol was Education Director for the Liverpool Capital of Culture bid team. She performed a key role within the bidding process, contributing to the writing of the bid documents, hosting and presenting to the judging panel and most importantly, was responsible for engaging lifelong learners of every age and ability, in the belief that Liverpool would be European Capital of Culture in 2008.

Carol has worked for many years within the cultural learning sector. Her work can be exemplified by the delivery of high quality education programmes, which offer sustainable cultural activity and experiences to all those involved.

Carol provides the lead role for the Liverpool City Region 'Find Your Talent' national programme; a three year DCMS/DCFS national programme, created to test how children and young people can access up to five hours of cultural engagement per week! Carol successfully led the bid for one of ten national pathfinders.
