James joined National Museums Liverpool in November 2006 as Head of Trust Foundations and Public Sector Giving and is currently Acting Director of Development. He is responsible for developing and co-ordinating National Museums Liverpool fundraising strategic policies, procedures and programmes.

James is leading the development team in the preparation and management of the annual giving and capital fundraising programme, including major gifts, corporate, trusts and foundations, and public appeal giving. This includes working with colleagues and senior staff to deliver cultivation events and activities that raise the profile of National Museums Liverpool locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.

He has over fifteen years experience in the arts and cultural sector in Liverpool. James has worked primarily as a fundraiser and arts manager across a range of organisations and areas including heritage, arts, education, culture, regeneration and community capacity building. He is a member of the Institute of Fundraising.

James has served as a board member with numerous community, arts, creative, cultural and faith organisations and he is currently chair of Brouhaha International.
