Flyer, '#TransGirlsCan'

About this object

‘Trans Girls Can’ was launched in May 2015 by local activists Sophie Green and Megan Key to celebrate trans* women taking part in sport and fitness worldwide and to inspire and empower other trans* women to do the same.

“As a transgender woman the battle with my body for many years was an internal one, but when I took ownership of it I began to affect the changes I wanted for myself. I was empowered, I allowed myself to be seen and I began to define myself. I’ve found acceptance within myself and the active communities I’ve been a part of and I’d like to encourage others to find their own.” – Sophie Green, thisgirlcan.co.uk, 2015

*Definition: trans/transgender – an umbrella term for people whose gender identity and/or gender expression differs from the sex they were assigned at birth.
