Edward Quaile

Scots-born (1821 - 1900) collector and previous owner of 'Spring, Arnside Knot from Warton Crag' by Daniel Alexander Williamson in the Walker Art Gallery collection

A Scots-born Cotton Broker and Insurance Agent who lived in Liverpool and Bidston before settling in Birkenhead, eventually at Lynmore, Palm Grove, Claughton. He collected illuminated manuscripts and wrote ‘Illuminated manuscripts: their origin, history and characteristics. A sketch, by Edward Quaile.
