"Forget the Trevi Fountain. No adventure playground, no leisure centre, no wood to play in - just the cool water was enough."
Stephen Shakeshaft
A number of reminiscence sessions have been held during the exhibition in which people have discussed the events, places and people captured in Stephen Shakeshaft's evocative photographs. Here is an example of the responses to this picture:
"I have very happy memories of the fountain in William Brown Street. We would all go there after school in the summer and in the summer holidays. We would play in the fountain all day and dry off in the sun or share a towel between us. Very happy memories."
More reminiscence sessions are planned during the exhibition, see the exhibition events programme for further details if you would like to take part.
