Ship and Historic Model Conservator
We asked a Ship and Historic Model Conservator at National Museums Liverpool why and how they chose this as a career
"Before working in conservation I had already trained and worked in Horticulture Science and Art. My qualifications include a RHS general certificate in horticulture, a HNC in applied biology and a BA hons in three-dimensional design. So because I was used to learning and trying to understand scientific principles and problem and working with different materials, conservation seemed a natural progression.
When I was at Art College we had a visit form a Polish artist and craftsman who said he had been struck by the abundance of objects in Britain - "so many things". So I feel rather than making more and more things, there is great value in looking after those objects which already exist.â€
