Reno tug model
The model of Reno is made of tinplate, wood, brass and lead solder. Pine and mahogany have been used on the boat and the stand is made of oak. The brass plaque on the base reads 'Mr Fox of Smithdown Road, Liverpool'. This was the plaque that Mr Fox used on all his bicycles and models. The model has textile rigging and has been decorated using oil paints and clear varnish. There is an electric motor on board, with space for a battery in the hull.
Miss V Fox gave the working model boat to National Museums Liverpool in 1984. Miss Fox is a relative of Mr Peter Fox, who made the model. Mr Fox was a well known amateur model maker in the 1950s and 1960s, who sold and repaired bicycles by trade.
