In this programme for the Albany Cinema from 1961, Shirley Gordon is billed alongside Ken Dodd and a new band, called The Beatles. She learnt to perform as a singer and dancer at an early age. While working as a secretary for the Dunlop Company in Speke during the late 1940s she performed with the BBC Orchestra on radio. 'With a Song in My Heart' became her signature song. Further work over the years took her all over UK in theatre and 'Workers Playtime' radio broadcasts.
