This photograph shows 2nd Lieutenant Richard Owen Jenkins, seated, between 2 other soldiers of the 5th King's Regiment, in France or Belgium during the First World War. A note on the reverse reads "A few days leave somewhere in Flanders ROJ in centre". 2nd Lieutenant Jenkins, 1st/5th Battalion, King's Liverpool Regiment, was awarded the Military Cross for his actions on 20 September 1917. He died the next day from wounds received in those actions. He was 25.
