Shirley Gordon's diary

Small black book with 'DIARY' and 'WVS CIVIL DEFENCE' embossed on front in silver

Shirley Gordon recorded her event bookings in this small Woman's Voluntary Service diary. She learnt to perform as a singer and dancer at an early age. While working as a secretary for the Dunlop Company in Speke during the late 1940s she performed with the BBC Orchestra on radio. 'With a Song in My Heart' became her signature song. Further work over the years took her all over UK in theatre and 'Workers Playtime' radio broadcasts.
