This wedding dress was bought from The Bridal House, Chester in 1984 by the bride-to-be. The bride, a member of National Museums Liverpool staff, donated it to the collections after her wedding day. The dress is made of nylon and nylon tulle. Nylon is one of the earlier synthetic fabrics and quite vulnerable to damage by acids. The hem of the skirt would have been fitted with a metal hoop to expand it while it was worn.
