Mummified ibis

This object is clearly identifiable as a type of mummy. However what is not clear is what it is that the Ancient Egyptians mummified. To unwrap the object is not an acceptable method of understanding what is inside the mummy, as unwrapping it would mean destroying the object forever. The shape of the object is no help either, and in this case there are no markings on the mummy to tell us what it may be.

X-rays of this mystery object revealed that the package contains a mummified ibis, a sacred bird in ancient Egypt.
