Family bible
This bible was handed down through the family of a member of staff at National Museums Liverpool. In the second half of 19th century the family were farmers in the Stoke Bruerne district of Northamptonshire. The bible is a colour illustrated edition of The Holy Bible, published by John Scott of Leicester. It has an embossed and gilt decorated cover and spine, with metal edges and hinged brass clip plates to hold the Bible shut when not in use.
