American Eagle

Conservation Technologies was commissioned by Mansell Construction to reconstruct a wooden sculpture of an American Eagle which had fallen into disrepair. The eagle was sited on the outside of what was the first American Embassy in Britain. The new owners of the building wanted to return the eagle to its former glory as part of the Liverpool One development in Liverpool city centre.

The eagle was brought into Conservation Technologies' studio where the missing elements were reconstructed from old photographs. New fixings were designed, fabricated and attached to its back. The eagle was finally sealed and painted before being transported from the National Conservation Centre and installed on its 'perch' in the heart of Liverpool.
