Spider crab at Manchester Museum
The spider crab at Manchester Museum| was to be re-sited from the centre of the entrance foyer to a new window display. Museum staff felt that a more sympathetic mount was required to give the impression that the spider crab was standing without support.
Conservation Technologies designed and built a mount from stainless steel, with rods running along the length of the legs. The carefully shaped rods then support the body section so that a central support is not required.
