The limited edition

Classical sculpture has been reproduced throughout history, as illustrated when a museum displays a sculpture 'in the style of' and cites an ancient sculptor. The limited edition sculpture by Conservation Technologies has been produced using a blend of modern digital and traditional methods.
Firstly a precise 3D computer model of the original marble sculpture was generated using 3D laser scanning technology|. This was then used to produce a master pattern of the sculpture, from which a mould was taken and used to cast the bronze version of the sculpture. Each sculpture was then patinated by hand, giving each its own unique character within the edition. By employing digital technologies alongside the more traditional casting techniques, it was possible to produce a highly accurate bronze version of the sculpture without any risk of damage to the original marble piece itself.
The bronze editions of the Aphrodite|, Eros|, Zeus Ammon| and Narcissus| sculptures are limited to a maximum of 35. Each edition is numbered and a small white gold authentication bar is discreetly set within the replica. A framed authentication certificate is also supplied.
