Raywatch
Yes, each donor is matched to a specific Thornback Ray.
What happens if my adopted ray is never caught?
We will continue to send you updates on the RayWatch project by email so you can see how your donation is helping us recommend ways to protect Thornback Rays.
No, to keep costs to a minimum and raise as much as possible for the RayWatch project, all communications about RayWatch will be sent by email.
What if I don't have an email address?
If you don't have access to an email account but would like to join the RayWatch project please call our office on 0151 478 4734 for further details.
You can make your donation online - select the Gift option and we will email you to confirm your details, the recipients email address and also to see if you would like to name their ray, or let them choose a ray name.
If you donate in World Museum, by post or over the phone, please enter the recipient’s details and ray name on the donation form. If you would like us to email the recipient on a particular date, we recommend you contact our office on 0151 478 4734 or email development@liverpoolmuseums.org.uk.
Please note, after we have confirmed the recipients email address all updates on RayWatch will be sent to them directly.
After your donation is processed we will email you to confirm your details and ask for your ray name, to be published on our website.
If your ray dies, the information we have gained from tracking your ray, including the last location, will be added to the tracking map on our website. We will continue to use your donation for RayWatch and continue to send you overall updates on the RayWatch project, too. If you would like to receive email notification if your ray dies, please email development@liverpoolmuseums.org.uk and we will make a note on your record.
Extra plush ray toys are only available to existing £25 Ray Champions. To order, please call 0151 478 4734 with your credit/debit card details to hand. Each extra ray toy is £8.00 including VAT.
The aquarium at the World Museum has several rays that you can get up close to, however all the RayWatch rays are wild and tagged in the Liverpool Bay area.
