This card is from the Read Thomson collection of Christmas cards from 1880 to 1900, in the Decorative Art collection at National Museums Liverpool.
The verse on back (not shown) reads:
' "Now Edward, mind you take me,
As gently as you can;
And, Edward, don't you shake me";
Exclaimed the aged man;
"Remember 'slow and steady',
Is far the wisest plan;
Observe the, maxim, Neddy;"
Exclaimed the aged man.
But lo! the beast fallacious,
Athwart a snowdrift ran;
"I'm falling off - good gracious!"
Exclaimed that aged man.'
