Slavery Remembrance Day 2015

Walk of Remembrance 2012

Slavery Remembrance Day enables us to remember and reflect upon the millions of lives that were stolen through enslavement. It also allows us to consider the many lasting legacies and achievements of people of African descent.

This year's free events, listed below, include:

  • Dorothy Kuya Slavery Remembrance Lecture by Ndaba Mandela at the Dr Martin Luther King Jr Building on Friday 21 August, 6pm - this event is now fully booked.
  • Family activities at the International Slavery Museum on Saturday 22 August.
  • A full programme of events at the International Slavery Museum on Sunday 23 August, including a special Walk of Remembrance through Liverpool city centre and libation ceremony at the waterfront.
