Slavery Remembrance Day

Walk of Remembrance 2012

Slavery Remembrance Day enables us to remember and reflect upon the millions of lives that were stolen through enslavement. It also allows us to consider the many lasting legacies and achievements of people of African descent.

This year's free events, listed below, include:

  • Family activities at the International Slavery Museum on Thursday 21 August.
  • Memorial lecture at the Dr Martin Luther King Jr Building on Friday 22 August, 6pm. Booking is essential: 0151 478 4240.
  • A full programme of events at the International Slavery Museum on Friday 23 August, including a special Walk of Remembrance through Liverpool city centre and libation ceremony at the waterfront.
