Create a Character

A group of local families recently visited Shirley Hughes - Alfie, Dogger and Friends, on display at Walker Art Gallery until 25 August.

The group explored this colourful family exhibition, taking a look at the work of children's author and illustrator Shirley Hughes.

Inspired by Shirley's work, the families then invented and drew their own characters for stories.

The BBC Open Learning Centre provided the venue for a web workshop. Families worked together to build their own web page to display the drawings of their characters.
