Mrs Joyce Rafferty 'I lived on the rim of Princes Park as a child [Mrs Rafferty now lives in Canada] and was frequently taken to the parks. I remember the lovingly polished animals with their bright heads. At that time there was also a pirate ship and so many other things which I understand have now been destroyed. Why? During the depression we had nothing, but loved to visit the aviary, the Palm House and the boating lake. There were also park policemen [and a woman]. This is my son Phillip, aged 5 in 1958.'
