Cosmogram workshop

Join artist Michelle Peterkin Walker of Akoma Arts to find out more about African ancestral symbolism that existed in the gardens of enslaved Africans and create your own memorial stone cosmograms using healing crystals, mineral rocks and gemstones.

Politics of Plants is an artist-led project inspired by the research findings of a recent collaboration between International Slavery Museum, Granby Land Development Trust and Dr Geri Augusto of Brown University exploring the links between transatlantic slavery and horticulture and using symbolic planting to honor enslaved African people "who practiced gardening for spiritual, physical, and personal use" - Dr Geri Augusto.

This creative workshop is free and all materials are provided.
