Ms Dynamite

Prize winning artist Niomi McLean-Daley was born in London in 1981. Daughter of a Scottish mother and Jamaican father, the singer, songwriter, and rapper grew up listening to reggae and hip hop music.

She became known as a Ms Dynamite after providing vocals for an underground pirate radio track. Her debut album 'A Little Deeper', featuring the hit songs 'It Takes More' and 'Dy-Na-Mi-Tee', won the prestigious Mercury Music Prize in 2002. She donated the £20,000 prize money to the NSPCC.
