Liverpool Blitz: 12 midnight
German bombs are hitting the dock areas on both sides of the river. Burning warehouses and ships show the bombers where to
aim their next attacks. Ack ack guns send volleys into the sky but with little effect. The river is alight with orange smoke as
dockworkers and firemen battle to contain the flames and keep the port open.
