About this

The Yoruba folk story of how wily Tortoise beat much faster Rabbit in a race has been for centuries part of the Nigerian oral culture.

As part of Black History Month 2003, National Museums Liverpool developed a project to produce a published version of the traditional tale, retold by Rounke Williams and Sewanu Jones.

This animation has been created using children's artwork, helped by local artist, Karl Eversley and extracts from the story. Animation design by Sam Trafford.
