About the Lady Lever Art Gallery

The Lady Lever Art Gallery is a real treasure. As well as a stunning collection of paintings we also have beautiful furniture, Chinese collections, tapestries, sculpture, Wedgwood, classical antiquities and a beautiful building. And it is all FREE!

What to see at the Lady Lever Art Gallery

Ground floor

There are several rooms in the gallery, centred around the main hall. The paintings on display includes pieces by Reynolds, Gainsborough, Stubbs, Turner, Millais, Burne-Jones, Lord Leighton, Rossetti, Alma-Tadema, Holman Hunt and Waterhouse to name but a few.

Around the gallery you will also find beautiful furniture, Chinese ceramics, Wedgwood, tapestries and a room dedicated to the man who created the gallery, Lord Leverhulme. There's more in our collections pages.

Basement

In the basement is the Dining Room and the gallery shop. More on those here. The toilets are also in the basement.

What to do at the Lady Lever Art Gallery

As well as the artworks that are permanently on display throughout the gallery we also have special events and exhibitions. These are all FREE.

Exhibitions

These are temporary displays and can be seen in the temporary exhibition gallery. You can find out about current exhibitions by following the 'Exhibitions' link in the main navigation panel beneath the Lady Lever Art Gallery logo on this page.

Events

We have a regular programme of special events and activities. They include gallery talks and workshops.

You can find out what is available on the day you visit by following the 'Events and activities' link in the main navigation panel beneath the Lady Lever Art Gallery logo. The event description will tell you if you can just turn up, should collect a ticket from the information desk or need to book in advance. All events and activities are free.
