Description: Reverse painting on glass with a mirrored background, one of a pair (to LL 8811); with a group of four women and two children in a pastoral scene. At the right two seated women with a child surrounded by a flock of sheep, the other two women, holding baskets of flowers, are followed by a child grasping a branch with blossoms. Chinese buildings and hills in the distance. Original Chinese frame, lacquered in reddish-brown colour.
Bought from Frank Partridge, 5 March 1918, £120 (for a pair of Chinese mirror paintings; LL 8811 & LL 8812, which have been sent to The Hill), gifted to the Lady Lever Art Gallery, 1922. LLAG Invoice file No. 87.
