Description: Reverse painting on glass, one of set of four (with LL 8817, LL 8818 & LL 8820). Boudoir scene with a young lady in a negligee seated on a red lacquer day-bed, leaning her arm on a gilded table and reading a book. On the table, a selection of precious objects and books. Window on the right and an open view to the rear. Original Chinese frame, carved and gilt.
Bought from Frank Partridge, 5 March 1918, £100 (for the set of four; LL 8817, LL 8818, LL 8819 and LL 8820, which have been sent to The Hill), gifted to the Lady Lever Art Gallery, 1922. LLAG Invoice file No. 87.
