About this object

A solid blue jasper saucer for LL 1499, also featuring sprigged decoration in white jasper. The decoration resembles leaves. LL 1499, the jasper tea bowl, has sprigged decoration depicting young children playing. Early jasper pieces like this are coloured right the way through the body. Later pieces were made in white jasper and then dipped in colour. This was cheaper than solid colour.
