About this object

This solid blue jasper scent bottle is decorated with white jasper sprigging. It has a silver metal cover. The sprigging depicts two French revolutionaries. They are Honoré Gabriel Riqueti, comte de Mirabeau (1749 - 1791) and Louis Philippe Joseph d'Orléans (Duke of Orleans 1747 - 1793).
The Duke of Orleans was a cousin of the French King, Louis the sixteenth, but the Duke voted for his execution in 1791. The Duke was also executed in 1793.
