About this object

The Frightened Horse, modelled by the Liverpool artist George Stubbs (1724-1806). Stubbs modelled this whilst staying with Wedgwood in 1780. Stubbs was staying with Wedgwood to paint a family portrait. Wedgwood disliked the design and only made a few of them in jasper.
