Families, adults and older people

National Museums Liverpool develops informal programmes for adults, including organised groups and individuals. We also work with families through our teenage parents programming and wider family learning initiatives.

Our work with older people includes activities that stimulate memory and conversation, whether this be through handling objects or museum visits. We can also tailor visits for older people who may need extra support.

We also run outreach programmes, visiting care homes, residential schemes, adult day centres, family centres and more, taking out our handling resources to those who cannot make it to our venues.

For more information, or if you If have an idea about how the museums could provide a service for you or your group, please email Kenn Taylor, communities worker - families and adults, or phone him on 0151 478 4977.

The Museum of Liverpool's Communities team provides a free outreach service to groups who may be unable to visit our venue itself.

Aimed primarily at older people or people with disabilities, we can visit residential schemes, day centres and other settings in the community.
We will bring along a selection of objects and images relating to the Museum of Liverpool's galleries and exhibits.

Participants can handle the items and learn about the Museum and how it tells Liverpool’s unique story.
The aim of the sessions is to bring the museum into the community and will encourage people to share stories and memories using an informal and stimulating approach.

Sessions last approximately one hour and require the following:

  • A group located in Merseyside
  • A room with a table and chairs
  • A group leader or support worker

Sessions can sometimes be tailored to groups with specific interests.

The service is free but subject to availability. To book please email Kenn Taylor, communities worker - families and adults, or phone him on 0151 478 4977.
