Education & Communities

Our community development officer is working with a range of groups to improve intellectual and physical access to our museums and collections. We can advise on suitable learning activities, and can tailor many to suit specific needs. We can offer creative sessions based on our collections either in your venue or in one of our museums or galleries.
There are many opportunities for people with disabilities or specific needs to enjoy at National Museums Liverpool.
We are keen to meet up with disability groups to learn about their specific needs and interests. We can then help to select a suitable session from our learning sessions database or develop new workshops to suit your group. Activities can involve visiting one of our venues to see a performance, taking part in an art workshop or watching a demonstration. We also work on longer term projects such as film making, art workshops and sound recording.
Some of our activities have to take place in the museum, but we have lots of ideas about sessions that can be delivered in your own venue. If you would like to talk to us about any potential opportunities please email Vikki Evans-Hubbard, communities worker, or contact her on 0151 478 4456.
All our activities are free of charge.
National Museums Liverpool has over 250 volunteers in many different roles. As a volunteer you can make an important contribution to the organisation, working on projects at any of our venues. If you have some time to spare, short or long term, and would like to get involved in some unpaid work this may be the option for you.
Anybody can apply to be a volunteer at National Museums Liverpool. Please let us know about any adaptations or access arrangements we could make to support your volunteering opportunity.
Volunteering does not affect the disability living allowance, but anyone claiming it will need to inform the benefits office that they are volunteering. If you are on incapacity benefit, the activities you participate in must not conflict with your stated incapacity. We suggest you talk to your personal adviser about this.
Further details about volunteering and current opportunities are available on the volunteering pages on this website.
