We offer an extensive programme of events, workshops and activities for all the family in all our museums and galleries. They take place regularly, especially at weekends and during the school holidays. The full programme is available in the What’s On section of the website. The suitability of each activity is labelled, but please get in touch if you are unsure. All of these sessions are free.
There are regular shows in the Planetarium and the Treasure House Theatre at World Museum Liverpool, offering insights into the night sky and the best of the collections respectively.
Families can get hands-on with the collections in two areas of World Museum Liverpool - visit the Weston Discovery Centre to explore our humanities and ethnography collections or the Clore Natural History Centre to see plants, animals, rocks, fossils and minerals. In the Bug House you will find our creepy-crawlies and in the Aquarium there are living fish from around our coasts and more exotic locations.
Big Art for Little Artists at the Walker Art Gallery has been specially designed to introduce younger children to art through fun activities, books, jigsaws and computers. There are also lots of things to do in our online feature about Big Art for Little Artists.
Young visitors will also enjoy the Sea Urchins early years play area at Merseyside Maritime Museum, which has lots of activities inspired by the objects in the museum including costumes, activity sheets and story books. You can find out how heavy a diver's helmet is, ring the ship's bell or take the helm at a ship's wheel.
We publish a quarterly 'Family guide' to all of our events and activities. Pick up a copy at any of our museums or galleries, or email here to join our mailing list so that future editions can be sent to you direct.
