Frequently asked questions

1. Will the FYT programme be expanded to other areas in the future?

The DCMS (Department for Culture, Media and Sport) and DCSF (Department for Children, Schools and Families) are committed to ensuring that one of the outcomes of FYT will be the delivery of a high quality universal cultural offer for all children and young people nationally. This will be informed by the work of the pathfinders and the evaluation of FYT.

2. What happens after 2011?

It is really important that this work is sustainable and will be embedded in the working processes of cultural organisations and Children's Services in the future. The LCRP pathfinder is working towards ensuring the outcomes of FYT are embedded across the work of Children's Services and cultural organisations in the future.

3. How can Young people find out more about career progression once they've been involved in FYT?

As part of the Find Your Talent programme, by the end of July 09, there will be a website specifically for young people. Not only will they be able to access information on what the cultural organisations have to offer them , they will also find advice and information on career paths and enhancement, along with a showcasing platform for their work. The site has been designed to become a cultural 'one-stop-shop' for young people in the region and will be shaped and developed by their input.

4. What does the FYT stamp mean?

Find Your Talent logo

The FYT stamp denotes which programmes have been created by the cultural partners specifically for Find Your Talent to explore the delivery of a universal cultural offer for young people in three target areas . Therefore these projects are only open to schools within the target areas. All other programmes are open to any school in the region.

5. Is Find Your Talent geared towards artistically gifted young people?

Find Your Talent is not focussing only on 'gifted and talented' children and young people. It is about ensuring that ALL young people have access to high-quality cultural opportunities and making sure that any young person who wants to take their interest further knows the pathways and routes they can take to do it. It is looking at the delivery of a universal offer, not one which is specifically for talented young people.
