Understanding Slavery is a free online resource for teachers and educators planning lessons on the transatlantic slave trade for key stage 3 and 4 pupils. It features collections from National Museums Liverpool and other major UK museums who have worked in partnership on the Understanding Slavery project.

We have a special website featuring fascinating facts and objects from our collections at www.diduknow.info. Its interactive pages are based on key themes from our museums and galleries. These include slave ships, emigrants, wartime Liverpool, ancient Egypt, sundials, curious collectables and even a fish Olympics. Many are suitable for classroom use before or after a visit.
