When I was little is an activity for young children aged three to seven  and grandparents (or older friends or relatives)  to do together on a visit to the Museum of Liverpool. Borrow a backpack from the welcome desk when you arrive. Each backpack contains activities to help you explore the museum together and share your memories, plus an album for you to keep.

Children are encouraged to ask their nanas and grandads about their own childhood and the objects they see together in museum displays, then write or draw their findings in the album. At the end of the visit the album is yours to take home as a keepsake.

The Museum of Liverpool is open every day 10am-5pm and backpacks can be borrowed, free of charge, for up to two hours from the welcome desk, subject to availability on the day.

Other activities and resources

As part of the House of Memories programme we offer a number of other free resources to help you engage with the people you are caring for, including Meet me at the museum, the memory suitcase loan service and memory walks around the Museum of Liverpool.
