Introduction of charges for education sessions
You may be aware that government-funded organisations such as ourselves have experienced severe budget reductions in recent years. In light of this, we are making changes to bring our schools offer in line with other national museums and City Region attractions, and have now started to charge for some our facilitated schools sessions. We will be introducing a charge for other facilitated schools sessions at World Museum on 19 June 2017.
What sessions are we charging for and when?
We are now charging £70 per session (including VAT) for the following Egypt, Key Stage 2 facilitated school sessions:
These sessions are available for booking now.
Our brand new Egypt gallery is now open at World Museum. Children have enjoyed our Egypt collections for many years, and we’re sure that the gallery’s redevelopment will inspire more generations to come, especially with the new ‘mummy room’ featuring 12 mummies.
Charges for further facilitated sessions at World Museum will be introduced for bookings from September. These sessions can only be booked from 19 June 2017 onwards. (This excludes Egypt sessions- we are currently taking bookings for Egypt sessions for September onwards.)
Why are we charging for sessions?
Government-funded organisations such as ourselves have experienced severe budget reductions in recent years. In light of this, we are making changes to bring our schools offer in line with other national museums and City Region attractions, and therefore will introduce a charge for our facilitated schools sessions in future months. Our prices have been benchmarked against other museums to make sure that they offer value for money.
As a non-profit organisation, all funds go back into National Museums Liverpool to support the work that we do. The charges we are implementing will enable us to enhance our current offer and continue delivering high quality sessions in the future.
Entrance to our museums and galleries for schools remains free, and we have a range of fantastic resources and trails available to support teachers who want to lead their own gallery visits too.
How will schools book sessions and pay?
Sessions can be booked online or by phoning 0151 478 4788. Payment must be received no later than one week after confirmation of the booking. If payment has not been received within one week of the booking confirmation, the scheduled booking will be cancelled and sessions made available for other schools to book. For bookings made within four weeks of the intended visit, payment must be made in full at the time of booking.
Payment can be made by BACs, credit card or cheque. Bookings will be subject to the Terms and Conditions provided at the time of the booking.
