Planning a visit
We recommend you read our planning a visit page to find out how to book a visit to one of our venues. During 2011-2012 we had more than 130,000 school children through our doors, so it’s important you let us know that you are coming. You can book a museum-led activity or opt for a self-guided visit. We can also arrange lunch spaces, if available. We have written some handy guides that give you all the essential information, for example, pupil/teacher ratios and sample risk assessments.
We offer a wide range of education sessions for schools and learners of all stages. These can be pre-booked, and cover a myriad of topics from the Titanic to the Egyptians. Some topics are extremely popular so book early to avoid disappointment. Find out more about the activities that you can book in our learning sessions database.
We have created a number of printed and online resources that you can use to aid your visit or use in the classroom. If you want us to provide any resources on the day of your visit, you will need to let us know in advance. We do not provide clipboards or pencils, so please remember to bring your own.
You should find all of the information you need to book or make a visit on the pages described above. If you have read all of this and still have a question for us then do feel free to drop us a line, preferably by filling in this booking form, or call the bookings team on 0151 478 4788.
Please note that we do experience very high numbers of phone calls at peak times and use a call filtering system so we can prioritise the most pressing requests. If you leave a message we will get back to you as soon as we can, usually within three working days. If you are booking a trip very far in advance it may take a little longer to get back to you - please be patient while we process your request.
