 Bears are everywhere!
Before the advent of the stuffed teddies that we know and love, bear-themed ornaments and toys were made of ceramic, metal and wood. Once the teddy craze was in full swing, bears began to appear on everything from crockery and cutlery, to badges, buttons, postcards and greeting cards.
Nowadays, there are bears everywhere! There are bear-shaped crisps and sweets, bears on clothes and bedding, carved in soap and candles. They are printed on nearly every type of product you can buy.
In the shops, brand names like Coca-Cola, Fox’s and Charmin use bears in their advertising and on their packaging. Their cute and fluffy image, associated with comfort and security, makes them a powerful selling tool.
Teddy bears have a special appeal for children. The make excellent promotional tools – which is why nearly every visitor attraction in the world sells its own souvenir bear!
