When is your bear's birthday?

Teddy BearBe bear or be square!

Join the party as the world’s favourite toy, the teddy bear, celebrates its 100th birthday!

The teddy is a special companion to millions of children and adults across the world. It plays a starring role in their memories, sharing the good times and bad times with its owner. A trusty teddy is quite simply one of the best friends a person can have!

This wonderful exhibition tells the tale of the teddy bear, how it got its name and the very first makers. Over 400 bears and related items will be on show, making it the biggest and best exhibition celebrating the teddy bear’s 100 years.

After a wonderful visit to Liverpool Museum, the Teddy Bear Story exhibition has packed its bags and moved to London's Museum of Childhood in Bethnal Green where it will be open to the public from 29 March until 31 December 2003 (closed Fridays).

The exhibition pays tribute to the century’s favourite teddies, from The Three Bears to the more recent Beanies. Famous bears like Rupert and Paddington will be on show, along with beautiful original illustrations of Winnie-the-Pooh and others. As well as the very best in Steiff bears, there’s a marvellous mechanical display bringing teddies to life.
