This is a highly illustrative and important rigging and seamanship manual of early 19th century, first published by Darcy Lever in 1808. It was regarded as a standard textbook for the Merchant and Royal Navy. The manual includes 111 explanatory plates containing 587 illustrations covering all aspects of practical seamanship including sails, shrouds, masts, tackles, ropes, knotting, rigging, ship positions, anchors, buoys and the compass.
