About this object

Set of five miniature medals (l-r: The Board of Trade Medal for Saving Life at Sea (silver), 1914-15 Star, British War Medal 1914-18, Mercantile Marine War Medal, Victory Medal) awarded to Leslie Morton
Able Seaman Leslie Morton was on lookout duty on Lusitania and was the first person to spot the torpedo. Having raised the alarm he helped lower several lifeboats, before he and Joseph Parry used a collapsible lifeboat to rescue over 100 survivors.
