Bibby Line 'Short Sea Cruises'

P P Press Liverpool, 1930 about

About this object

As the number of people emigrating to the USA declined, shipping companies started to emphasise the attraction of cruising and relaxing and comfort on board their vessels. They also emphasised the facilities on board as the experience of luxury ships became the holiday itself.
Although this poster depicts very simplified figures, they give an impression of quality and high living. It also shows passengers enjoy preferring to stay on board ship to experience their new exotic surroundings.
The Bibby Line of Liverpool was founded in 1801 and was famous for its style. The company preserved its nineteenth century elegance with a style of newer vessels with a four mast and three island deck design, with a long bridge deck
